Dr. James White Made a Scary Prediction. 5 Years Later, It’s Coming True

This video was made by Dr. James White of Alpha and Omega Ministries and Todd Friel of Wretched, as they talked about what would happen to the church in five years. Now, here we are in 2021, just over five years later, and it’s scary to see how it is coming true in our society today.

Dr. White’s prediction was well-informed, and as a result he hit very close to the mark as to what the Christian church would experience if widespread repentance did not come to America. Five years ago, he believed that at least these four things would occur:

1. The Christian witness against the sin of homosexuality would be considered a hate crime.
2. Christian forms of education that disagree with the sexual revolution’s agenda would be put under greater restrictions or in some cases shut down.
3. Christians would be labelled bigots for declaring the clear teachings of the Word of God.
4. A stand for the truth would no longer be tolerated.

What are we seeing in the culture of postmodern America today?

1. The Christian witness against the sin of homosexuality is considered a hate crime.

3. Christians are labelled bigots for declaring the clear teachings of the Word of God.
4. A stand for the truth is longer tolerated.

Uncanny, right?

Not really.

Dr. White saw this coming five years ago for the same reason that many other people did. It’s not difficult to see the world becoming more intolerant towards Christians because the two oppose each other. The truth of God’s Word exposes the wretchedness of humanity — therefore humanity does not want the truth of God’s Word. A depraved world that is infatuated with its own sin will always move in a direction of greater hostility toward God, His Scriptures, and His people.

“If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well. But they have done this to fulfill the word that is written in their Law, ‘THEY HATED ME WITHOUT A CAUSE.’”

John 15:18-25

But as Dr. White also said, there is a good side to this. Persecutions and trials always purify the church. Where there is a willingness to suffer for Christ such as we see in the book of Acts and a holding fast to the doctrines of Scripture, there will be an abiding Christian witness because these are characteristics of a true Christian. A focus upon what the church really is — the pillar and ground of the truth (1 Tim. 3:15) and definitely NOT a Word of Faith silly-center — will help keep the churches that teach the truth from falling apart in the days of trial that we know will come, or that in large part are already here.

In addition to that, there is something we can do as individuals and churches, something more than just sit tight and try to weather the storm. As Mr. Friel said, we can take care of our own souls and make sure we’re truly committed to the truth and to the Savior; we can take care of our families and make sure we’re all ready for whatever may come; and we can fight for our churches, striving to purify and strengthen them so that they will stand firmly and not fall down flat when the storm does roll in (or intensifies).

The Lord has promised that trials will come upon us in this world. May we not be caught off guard when they do.
